MORTGAGE REGISTRATION FOR BELIZE

Vessel’s, mortgages, assignments, liens and encumbrances, may be recorded, modified and cancelled at IMMARBE. A preliminary registration of documents is valid for six months and has the same effect as a permanent registration.

The documents’ permanent registration may be made within six months by paying the appropriate fees. Schedule of Fees.

A registered ship mortgage shall continue in full force until mortgage discharge deed has been registered at IMMARBE by the mortgagee. A judicial sale of the vessel will also cancel a registered ship mortgage.

Standard bank mortgages deed forms and assignments are acceptable for inscription/registration in Belize provided they are in English or translated to English.
